You should look at your Alaskan Malamute's nails at least once a week to see if they require clipping. As with all breeds, it is a good idea for you to brush your Alaskan Malamute's teeth at least once a day. It is okay to get a dental bone type product to supplement the daily dental brushing. Also, like our teeth, you may want to brush your Alaskan Malamute's teeth after he eats a few dog treats. Some treats may have just a little bit of sugar in them so it's a good idea to brush. Daily walks are essential for this breed. Alaskan Malamutes can put on weight quickly and needs at least 30-45 minutes a day of a brisk walk or preferably a run. In the summer time it is best if you walk your dog before the heat and humidity set in. Alaskan Malamutes do NOT tolerate heat very well. You should carry some water and offer it to your Alaskan Malamute mid way on your daily walk in hot weather. Never leave your Alaskan Malamute outside as the weather starts to get hot. |
