The Beagle is a medium sized dog with a weight that can range from 14-19 pounds. Females from the breed tend to be smaller. The Beagle was breed to be a hunter. This breed needs daily exercise to stay in shape and stay happy. This dog will be very happy in a large fenced in yard where he can get lots of play time and exercise. These dogs tend to put on weight quickly if they are not given adequate exercise. It is great to offer your dog treats every once in a while, however with this breed it may be best to limit their daily treats.

This breed will measure from 13-15 inches from the ground to his shoulder. The female of the breed may be a bit smaller. The Beagle has a sturdy build and looks somewhat muscular. The beauty of this dog is that they are symmetrical yet powerful and somewhat active.
