Pugs Grooming

You will need to wash and dry the Pug's face daily. 4/10 04

This is an easy dog to take care of. The Pug's beautiful wrinkled face needs to be washed and dried daily. This is done to avoid a skin infection common to this breed. You should look at your Pug's nails at least twice a week to see if they require clipping. As with all breeds, it is a good idea for you to brush your Pug's teeth at least once a day. The Pug's mouth is small for the amount of teeth in them. It is okay to get a dental bone type product to supplement the daily dental brushing. Also, like our teeth, you may want to brush your Pug's teeth after he eats a few dog treats. Some treats may have just a little bit of sugar in them so it's a good idea to brush.

Daily walks are essential for this breed. Pugs can put on weight quickly and need at least 10-15 minutes a day of a brisk walk. In the summer time it is best if you walk your dog before the heat and humidity set in. Pugs do NOT tolerate heat very well. You should carry some water and offer it to your Pug mid way on your daily walk in hot weather. Never leave your Pug outside as the weather starts to get hot. Their noses are short and can sometimes have difficulty breathing in hot or humid conditions.
